First impressions are undeniably important, and part of that first impression is the state of your smile. Having misaligned, stained, or chipped teeth can lead to a lot of anxiety. Nearly everyone wants to offer a smile and know that they won’t be judged based on the state of their teeth. The problem is that not everyone has the perfect white smile they wish they had.
For those who may be looking for a long-lasting and affordable option for elevating the appearance of their smiles, dental veneers can be an excellent option. Dr. Brian Kynaston, Dr. Matthew Perry, and Dr. Seth Prochaska are cosmetic dentists who have years of experience in applying veneers that can morph your smile into the one you dreamt of.
Do Veneers Look Like Natural Teeth?
Once veneers have been applied to your teeth, they will largely appear the same as natural teeth. They are made of an ultra-thin porcelain that is applied to your natural teeth. As they can match your other teeth and light can shine through them the same way as any other teeth, nobody will have any idea that you have had them applied.
Are Porcelain Veneers Durable?
If you provide proper care to your veneers, they can keep you smiling brightly for a decade or even longer. The dentists at McPherson Dental Care will do everything possible to provide you with high-quality veneers crafted from quality materials. They are then bonded to your teeth with the most modern possible procedures.
How Are Porcelain Veneers Applied?
You will come into the office at McPherson Dental Care for three appointments in order to have your veneers applied. The first appointment will focus on an examination, diagnosis, and plan for the best possible treatment. The second appointment will be spent preparing your teeth for the procedure. The final procedure will be when the veneer bonding takes place.
The first appointment will involve typical dental examination and conversation with Dr. Prochaska, Dr. Perry, or Dr. Kynaston. The dentist will discuss the advantages and limitations of the procedure with you. This will be followed by planning for your beautiful new smile.
At the second appointment, you will visit the office for approximately one to two hours. Your teeth will be buffed in preparation for the porcelain veneers. The veneers are quite thin, but the buffing allows for them to be applied. Local anesthesia may or may not be required. After this is complete, a scan will be sent to a lab where your veneers will be made.
About three weeks later, you’ll come in for your final appointment. Your cosmetic dentist will place the veneers on your teeth using glycerin or water. The color and fit will be analyzed before they adhere to your teeth. First, your tooth will be cleaned, then a special bonding agent will be applied to adhere the veneers. The entire process will take only one to two hours.
How Are Veneers Maintained?
You will continue to brush and floss your teeth as normal and return for a checkup visit a couple of weeks later. A dentist at McPherson Dental Care can recommend a non-abrasive toothpaste to use. You may experience some sensitivity at first, but this should end within about a week.
